Price Break-Down of Neck Traction Devies

There are numerous types of cervical neck traction devices on the market today. These neck-stretchers come in a myriad of shapes, sizes, and colors. They also come in a wide range of pricing!
The pricing separated into 3 levels to help you understand what is on the market. This is not a comprehensive list, just a primer of sorts. This list is NOT an indication of quality or effectiveness!

For fun, the price levels are labeled after the presidents on US currency denominations: $1 bill  (Washington), $50 bill (Jackson), $100 bill (“Benjamins”).

The Washingtons (inexpensive but honest)

OTC Professional Orthopedic- Over the Door Cervical Traction Kit

This product is used to relieve pressure on muscles, nerve tissue and minor fractures of the cervical spine. It sets up easily for home use and will fasten over any door. The weight bag can be calibrated from 2-20 pounds, and the halter fits most adults. The only drawback is that you must use this at a door and you have no control over the traction force.

Elasto-Gel Therapy  Neck Collar

The Elasto-Gel Therapy Neck Collar is designed to provide hot or cold therapy directly on problem areas of the neck. The Elasto-Gel Therapy is made of a tough, flexible gel that will not leak if punctured. This is NOT a real neck traction device.  It retain temperature for 20-30 minutes and is shaped to fit the cervical area snugly. This device stays soft, is freezer safe, and microwavable! An adjustable Velcro closure allows for easy positioning.

This neck tractionl device a self-adjusting, easy to use product that one can use while in any position: lying down, sitting or standing. This air neck traction device can even be used during day at any place! The ChiSoft is comprised of 3 layers with inner latex air chambers and soft covering material.

This neck traction unit will relieve pressure, stiffness and muscle spasms associated with neck pain problems. The user has total control of the traction force at all times and it’s foldable. Very inexpensive and user-friendly device.

ChiSoft 2 Neck Traction Device

The ChiSoft 2 neck traction utilizes “Bio-Magnetic Field Therapy” by placing 2 magnets at the rear centers of the air chambers. The ChiSoft 2 has three inflatable air chambers for improved effectiveness and range, and is lightweight and portable.

This neck traction device is operated by a single bulb pump and includes an air-release screw for maximum inflation control. This product is constructed of latex rubber inner chambers and comfortable, washable velour fabric covers.  This device automatically protects the cervical tract once inflated. This product is well-suited for larger neck sizes. Inexpensive and very comfortable with full control over the traction force.

The Saunders HomeTrac Deluxe

This traction device directs traction forces toward the occiput (back of the head) thereby preventing compression of the TMJ through the chin. The HomeTrac Deluxe safely applies up to 50 pounds of traction and the user has total control of force at all times. This allows easy home traction without assistance. There are self-adjusting neck wedges that rotate through a 30 degree arc. All of the parts are removable for easy cleaning or replacement. This product is a comfortable and cost-effective option for continuing clinical traction treatments at home.

Some people suffer from being in any type of uncomfortable position, whether it be driving a car (especially turning the neck to look back), or just sitting at the computer for extended periods of time. Uncomfortable positions can lead to excess muscle stiffness, tension and neck fatigue. The spine in the cervical area should have a “c- shape” to it. When cervical joints are out of alignment, they wear unevenly, thus creating stiffness and discomfort i.e., cervical pain.
